Domestic Coup

Second place Matilde Pérez Art Contest, 2014. Museum of Contemporary Art, Parque Quinta Normal.

"The family memory and its sound source constitute the axis of this work. Footprint and symbolic load that the author investigates to build a composition, where the instruments could not be other than used, cracked or rusty containers. The material manifests the hidden from its manufacture to its disposal, but for this it needs to be beaten as a reminder. The utensils were recovered in fairs and other social places, selected for being enlozados, light and of a single haza. Coincidentally they all turned out to come from the Ferriloza factory, which on September 13, 1973 was raided and closed after the military coup." (Matilde Pérez Competition 2015).

The work is a sound composition through the serial beating of these ten containers. Because of its material quality, plus the museum environment, the composition resounds as a church bell. It is activated every hour and lasts 5 minutes.
